HOW TO BID

REGISTER:

This auction requires that all sellers and buyers be registered. This enables the auction to keep track of items for sale and who is bidding. It protects the auction and you as buyer and/or seller. Registration is simple. Click on [Register] here or near the top of any auction page. You must print and return a signed copy of the auction agreement. Once you have completed the on-line registration form, you will receive an e-mail with your password. Save a copy of this e-mail. Once the auction has received your signed agreement, you receive a second e-mail, informing you that your account has been activated. You may then logon to the auction. If you would like you may then also change your password to something more easily remembered.

BIDDING:
This auction site provides a Standard Auction where the sale goes to the highest bidder. However there is a feature where the seller may identify a Buy-it now price. In this case the bidder could buy the offering immediately at that fixed price. However, once the bidding has begun on an item, the Buy-it now option is no longer available.

Click on the category of interest. This will take you to sub-categories for this topic. Clicking on the sub-category of interest will display a list of the specific items for sale. Click on the name of the item you'd like more information about. If you wish to place a bid, enter your USERNAME, PASSWORD, and your bid in the box below the item, then just click on the place bid button nearby. You will be taken to a bid conformation screen. If your bid looks correct, click on the place bid button at the bottom of the screen. You will then be given a confirmation of your bid.

PROXY BIDS:
The auction uses PROXY BIDDING. This is how it works. When you place your bid, the value that you enter should be the highest amount that you are willing to pay at this time. The seller has posted the item and set a starting bid amount and a bid increment. Proxy bidding will place a bid for you either at the starting bid (if you are the first bidder) or at the current bid plus the bid increment. The amount that you entered as your bid is a cap on how high proxy bidding will bid for you. For example, the seller sets the starting bid at $50 and a bid increment of $1. You place yor bid at $75. If the current bid is for $50, the proxy will place your bid at $51. If others are also bidding, the proxy will meet the new high bid for you, but will not go over $75. If you later wish to raise your maximum you can return to the item and do so.

E-MAIL NOTICES:
Once you have placed your bid, you will receive an e-mail confirmation for your bid. If your bid was for a Buy-it now, your e-mail notice will be a confirmation of your purchase. In all cases the Seller will also receive an e-mail notifying him of your bid or purchase. Should someone outbid you, the system sends you an e-mail notification with a link back here to the item. Click on the link right in your e-mail message and you will be returned directly to the item. You can then decide whether you want to raise your bid.

RAISING BIDS:
To raise your bid, go down to the place bid input box below the item's description and enter your new, higher bid.

RESERVE BIDS:
Sometimes a seller enters a Reserve Bid. For example, a specific item sells for $100 new. The seller decides to place a starting bid of $1 on the item but they want to get at least $80 for it. So a reserve bid of $80 is entered into the system. In such a case--even if you are the high bidder at, say, $60--you will not win the item unless you go over $80. Look for the Reserve and or Reserve Met icon in the Status column of each listing to know whether this is an issue for you.

ITEM SOLD E-MAIL:
The system automatically sends the buyer (highest bidder) and seller of the item e-mail when the auction ends. The buyer is responsible for making payment to the auction.
